Palm Beach, Florida, USA – Web Desk: The U.S. Secret Service fatally shot a suspect attempting to unlawfully enter former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, according to foreign news agencies.
Authorities reported that the individual was armed with a shotgun and carrying a fuel can. Palm Beach County Sheriff Rick Bradshaw said during a press briefing that two Secret Service agents and a deputy sheriff confronted the suspect, ordering him to place his weapons on the ground.
The suspect complied with placing the fuel can down but raised the shotgun in a firing position. In response, agents fired at the suspect, killing him on the scene. No officers were injured during the incident.
At the time, Trump was in Washington, D.C., and was not present at the resort. The motive behind the attempted entry has not been disclosed. The FBI has taken control of the investigation and is collecting evidence at the scene.
