Pallekele, Sri Lanka – Web Desk: In an ICC T20 World Cup Super 8 clash, England secured a convincing 51-run victory over Sri Lanka at Pallekele.

Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to field first. England posted 146 runs for 9 wickets in their allotted 20 overs, with Phil Salt shining with a 62-run innings off 40 balls. Will Jacks contributed 21 runs, while Sri Lanka’s bowlers restricted the rest of the batting lineup.

Chasing 147, the Sri Lankan team struggled against England’s disciplined bowling attack and were bowled out for 95 runs.

Meanwhile, the Super 8 opener between Pakistan and New Zealand was abandoned due to rain, with both teams awarded one point each.
