MUMBAI – Web Desk: India have added middle-order batter Sarfaraz Khan to their squad for the two-Test series against Sri Lanka as a replacement for the injured Sai Sudharsan.
Sudharsan was ruled out of the series due to a stress reaction in his right foot and is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. The BCCI said he is showing significant improvement in his recovery.
Sarfaraz Khan made his Test debut in 2024 and has scored 371 runs in six Test matches, including one century and three half-centuries. He scored 429 runs in seven matches for Mumbai during the 2025 Ranji Trophy season.
India are dealing with several injuries ahead of the Sri Lanka tour, including key players Jasprit Bumrah and Washington Sundar. The first Test begins on August 15 in Galle, while the second is scheduled for August 23 at the SSC Ground in Colombo. The series is part of the World Test Championship.
