London, England – Web Desk: Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan has expressed optimism about participating in England’s The Hundred League, stating that opportunities to play depend on team selections and not on the players themselves.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Pakistan’s Super Eights match against England, Farhan said, “Wherever I get the chance to play, I am ready. It’s not in our hands who buys us, and those not interested shouldn’t worry about it.”
Farhan highlighted that in the initial five seasons of The Hundred, only nine Pakistani players could participate, as many teams avoid selecting them due to their international commitments. Pakistan is scheduled to play two Test matches against the West Indies during this year’s tournament.
The opener remained hopeful about being picked for the league, stating, “Everyone wants to play in the best leagues. The Hundred is one of them, so expect the best.”
Recent reports cited by BBC noted that some IPL franchise owners may not bid for Pakistani players in The Hundred auctions, a claim that sparked concern among cricketing circles. Former England captain Michael Vaughan weighed in on X, stating that the England Cricket Board (ECB) must intervene to ensure fairness and prevent such situations.
Farhan’s remarks underline the challenges faced by Pakistani cricketers in securing opportunities in international franchise leagues while balancing national commitments.
