Doha, Qatar – Web Desk: Qatar has praised Pakistan’s diplomatic role in facilitating US-Iran discussions while stating that no additional mediator is required for ongoing dialogue efforts.
According to a briefing by the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari said that Qatar is not currently engaged in any agreement with Iran and denied reports suggesting otherwise.
He emphasized that discussions related to ceasefire efforts are being conducted through high-level coordination with Pakistan, the United States, and other friendly nations.
Al-Ansari acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in facilitating recent US-Iran engagement, stating that existing diplomatic channels are sufficient and there is no need for new intermediaries at this stage.
He further clarified that Qatar has no active contact with Iran regarding any separate arrangement and said that the country’s primary focus remains on national security and defense.
The spokesperson also rejected claims of any deal involving Iran to halt attacks on Qatari interests, calling such reports baseless.
Reiterating Qatar’s position, he said that control or monopoly over the Strait of Hormuz by any single party is unacceptable, and Doha continues to support diplomatic efforts to ensure its safe and open navigation.
Analysts say Qatar’s statement underscores ongoing regional sensitivities and the importance of coordinated diplomacy involving multiple stakeholders, including Pakistan.
