PTI Raises Alarm Over Imran Khan’s Health Amid Prison Neglect Claims

Date:

Peshawar | Web Desk: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has raised serious concerns over the health of its founder and former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, amid allegations of neglect at Adiala Jail. PTI Deputy Secretary Information, Shaukat Yousafzai, warned that inadequate medical care could result in Khan losing sight in one eye.

In a statement issued from Peshawar, Yousafzai criticized federal ministers for claiming that Khan was receiving facilities beyond the jail manual, asserting that Salman Safdar’s official report exposed these claims as false. He highlighted that Khan has been denied essential amenities, including proper medical attention, quality food, and even functional electricity in his cell, resulting in heat and poor living conditions. Insects reportedly infest the prison room, and Khan reportedly pays for his own meals.

Yousafzai demanded immediate action by the Supreme Court and an FIR against Adiala Jail’s superintendent and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, citing political negligence and violation of prisoners’ rights. He emphasized that the lack of proper medical treatment and family access amounts to gross misconduct and human rights concerns.

“The Supreme Court must ensure that Imran Khan receives treatment from doctors of his choice and that his family is allowed full access during medical care,” Yousafzai said in a video message. He stressed that the PTI would not compromise on Khan’s health and called for urgent remedial measures.

The PTI official’s statements have intensified ongoing debates about prison conditions, political accountability, and the treatment of prominent political figures in Pakistan. With Khan being one of the country’s most popular leaders, the party has vowed to continue highlighting the issue until his health and basic rights are fully protected.
