Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Afridi has broken his silence following allegations of ball-tampering during the sixth match of PSL 11 between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings.
According to match officials, umpires imposed a five-run penalty on Lahore Qalandars after inspecting the ball in the final over, ruling that its condition had been altered. The decision changed the course of the game, reducing Karachi Kings’ required runs from 14 to 9, enabling them to secure a thrilling victory.
Addressing the controversy, Shaheen Afridi said the team was unaware of any intentional ball tampering and would review match footage to understand the incident. “Following the umpires’ decision, our team had no choice but to accept the ruling,” Afridi added.
The incident also involved players Fakhar Zaman and Haris Rauf. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has initiated an official investigation into the matter.
The Lahore Qalandars management stated that the team will cooperate fully with the PCB inquiry while reviewing its internal protocols to prevent such incidents in the future.
