PM Shehbaz Sharif Urges Trump to Extend Deadline, Reopen Hormuz

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged US President Donald Trump to extend the current deadline by two weeks and appealed to Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, as diplomatic efforts intensify to resolve the ongoing Middle East conflict peacefully.

In a statement posted on X, Sharif said diplomatic initiatives aimed at ending the war are progressing steadily, expressing hope for tangible results in the near future. He emphasized the importance of allowing diplomacy sufficient time to succeed.

The Pakistani premier made a “sincere request” to Washington to grant a two-week extension to the deadline, while also calling on Iran to reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz as a goodwill gesture during the same period.

Sharif further appealed to all parties involved in the conflict to observe a temporary ceasefire for two weeks, stressing that such a pause is crucial for advancing diplomatic efforts toward a lasting resolution. He added that sustained peace and stability in the region depend on meaningful dialogue and de-escalation.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical global oil transit route, and any disruption has significant implications for international energy markets and regional security.
