Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has hailed Pakistan’s workers as a symbol of resilience, determination, and national pride, paying tribute to their contributions on International Labour Day.

In his message marking May 1, the prime minister said Pakistan stands in solidarity with the global community in recognizing the role of workers and honoring their dedication. He praised labourers across sectors — including farmers, industrial workers, artisans, and daily wage earners — for their vital role in sustaining economic and social activity.

Sharif noted that the perseverance and sacrifices of workers keep industries, agriculture, construction, and services running, both domestically and internationally. He said Pakistani labour and skilled workforce represent the country’s professionalism and capability worldwide, particularly overseas workers who contribute significantly through remittances.

The prime minister highlighted government initiatives under the National Skills Development Policy aimed at enhancing workforce capacity, aligning skills with modern industry needs, and ensuring international-standard training and certification. He added that institutions such as the Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) and Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) continue to provide social protection, including pensions, housing, and education support.

Sharif reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting workers’ rights and called on all stakeholders, including businesses and individuals, to ensure fair treatment and welfare of labourers. He concluded by urging collective efforts to build a just and prosperous society driven by a strong and empowered workforce.
