Colombo, Sri Lanka – Web Desk: Two members of Sri Lanka’s Under-19 cricket team have been arrested over allegations of secretly filming women at a hotel, police said, in a case that has sparked concern over privacy violations.
According to reports, the incident took place in the Narahenpita area of Colombo, where the team was staying. Several women lodged complaints alleging they were secretly recorded on mobile phones while using hotel bathrooms.
Police detained the two players following the complaints but later released them on personal bail of 500,000 Sri Lankan rupees each, pending further investigation.
Authorities said they are also examining whether any of the alleged recordings were shared online, which could lead to additional charges.
The suspects were presented before a local court for a preliminary hearing, with the next hearing scheduled for May 25.
The Sri Lanka Cricket board has not yet announced any disciplinary action regarding the incident.
The case comes amid recent administrative changes within Sri Lanka Cricket, including the removal of senior officials and the formation of a new transformation committee.
