Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: The U.S. Mission in Pakistan marked the 250th anniversary of American independence in Islamabad, celebrating the values of freedom, dignity and self-determination that have inspired people around the world for two and a half centuries.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended the reception, which highlighted the growing partnership between Pakistan and the United States.
Speaking at the event, Natalie Baker reflected on the importance of liberty and the significant progress in U.S.-Pakistan relations over the past two years. She said the relationship, based on mutual respect, shared interests, security and economic prosperity, has evolved into a stronger strategic partnership.
Baker credited U.S. President Donald Trump for his results-oriented leadership and highlighted his direct engagement with Pakistan’s leadership as evidence of close ties at the highest levels.
She also praised Pakistan’s role in facilitating high-level dialogue between Washington and Tehran, noting that Islamabad’s relations with both countries placed it in a unique position to support diplomatic engagement.
The U.S. diplomat highlighted cultural and people-to-people connections, including her visits to various regions of Pakistan and participation in the revival of Lahore’s historic Basant festival.
Baker also emphasized the role of sports diplomacy ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, noting that footballs used during the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico are being manufactured in Pakistan, showcasing the country’s craftsmanship on the global stage.
The event underscored shared aspirations for peace, prosperity and stronger bilateral cooperation. In her closing remarks, Baker expressed confidence in the future of U.S.-Pakistan relations, saying the most important chapter of the partnership is yet to come.
