Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level consultative meeting to review the evolving situation after Iran declined to participate in the next round of ceasefire negotiations with the United States.
According to official sources, the meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and other senior officials.
The participants discussed the implications of Iran’s decision not to join the upcoming round of talks and assessed regional developments linked to ongoing tensions between Washington and Tehran.
Officials said the interior minister briefed the prime minister on his recent meetings with US and Iranian diplomats, outlining Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement aimed at facilitating dialogue.
Sources added that the meeting reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring that negotiations between Iran and the United States take place, emphasizing continued diplomatic outreach to encourage Tehran’s participation.
Pakistan has been actively positioning itself as a mediator in the crisis, advocating a negotiated solution to reduce tensions and prevent further escalation in the region.
Officials reiterated that diplomatic efforts would continue to bring both sides back to the negotiating table and support a sustainable ceasefire framework.
