Web Desk: Manila, Philippines – The Philippines has deployed naval and aerial assets to remove Chinese vessels from its maritime waters amid rising tensions in the South China Sea, according to local media reports.
Authorities said several Chinese research ships were found conducting what was described as unauthorized maritime research within the country’s exclusive economic zone.
The Philippine Coast Guard stated that no foreign vessel is permitted to carry out scientific or exploratory activities without government approval, adding that steps are being taken to safeguard national sovereignty.
Officials confirmed that aircraft and patrol ships have been dispatched to monitor and respond to the presence of foreign vessels in the disputed waters.
Meanwhile, China has presented a conflicting account, claiming that Philippine nationals attempted to enter the Spratly Islands—known in China as the Nansha Islands—without authorization. Beijing said its coast guard intervened and handled the situation in accordance with law.
The South China Sea remains one of the world’s most sensitive maritime flashpoints, with overlapping territorial claims involving China, the Philippines, and other regional states.
