Pakistan rejects UK envoy’s “one-sided” Afghan border statement

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan has strongly rejected remarks made by a British representative regarding the Pakistan-Afghanistan border situation, describing them as “one-sided” and lacking an understanding of ground realities.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pakistan said the comments did not reflect the complex nature of the regional security environment and were made without a full grasp of the facts.

The spokesperson stated that despite Pakistan’s announcement of a temporary ceasefire in March 2026 as a goodwill gesture, cross-border attacks and infiltration attempts from Afghan territory have continued. According to the statement, unprovoked firing and attacks allegedly carried out by Afghan Taliban, along with actions attributed to India-backed proxies, resulted in 52 civilian deaths and 84 injuries.

Pakistan said it exercised restraint while conducting targeted and effective operations against militant hideouts and support infrastructure, successfully thwarting several infiltration attempts. The Foreign Office also rejected claims by Afghan authorities regarding civilian casualties, calling them “baseless” and unsupported by evidence.

Islamabad urged the international community to assess the situation objectively, taking into account Pakistan’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and its consistent stance on regional peace and stability.
