Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: Electricity outages have intensified across Pakistan, with prolonged load shedding disrupting businesses and educational activities in multiple cities, including Karachi.
Residents in several parts of Karachi are facing scheduled power cuts exceeding 12 hours a day, while even previously exempt areas are now experiencing extended outages. The worsening power situation has raised concerns among traders, students, and daily wage earners.
Across the country, unannounced load shedding continues to affect routine life. In Peshawar, outages have reportedly reached up to 16 hours daily, while in Quetta, residents are dealing with 4 to 6 hours of power cuts. Other districts in Balochistan are facing outages ranging between 8 to 10 hours.
In contrast, officials from the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) said there is no unannounced load shedding in Lahore, where the electricity shortfall has been reduced to around 100 megawatts.
However, rural areas and smaller cities in Punjab are still experiencing 2 to 3 hours of daily load shedding.
The growing electricity crisis highlights ongoing challenges in Pakistan’s power sector, with rising demand, infrastructure constraints, and supply shortfalls continuing to impact economic activity and daily life.
