Rawalpindi, Pakistan – Web Desk: A two-week-long joint counter-terrorism military exercise between Pakistan and Egypt has successfully concluded in the Cherat region of Rawalpindi and surrounding training areas, the military’s media wing said on Sunday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the exercise titled “Thunder-II” aimed to enhance mutual cooperation, professional skills, and coordinated strategies in counter-terrorism operations.
The drills focused on modern combat techniques, operational planning, and tactical coordination between the two armed forces, significantly improving interoperability and joint response capabilities.
Special forces personnel from Pakistan’s Special Services Group (SSG) and Egyptian Special Forces actively participated in the exercise, demonstrating advanced skills in complex counter-terror scenarios.
Senior military officials from both countries attended the concluding ceremony. The event was led by the General Officer Commanding of the SSG, while Egypt was represented by Major General Mohamed Saad Abdel Razek, Commander of Egyptian Paratroopers, along with the Egyptian Defence Attaché.
ISPR stated that the exercise marks an important milestone in strengthening longstanding military relations between Pakistan and Egypt and reflects growing defense cooperation between the two countries.
Officials said such joint training initiatives contribute to regional security, capacity building, and enhanced readiness in combating evolving security threats.
