Iran envoy rejects threats, warns over blockade tensions

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghaddam, has said Tehran cannot be coerced into accepting “unreasonable demands” through threats or continued violations of international law.

In a statement posted on X, the envoy criticized what he described as ongoing pressure tactics, including maritime restrictions and warnings of further military actions, saying such measures would not force Iran to alter its position.

He added that diplomatic claims cannot be sustained while, in his words, actions on the ground contradict the principles of dialogue. “It cannot be claimed that diplomacy is being pursued while rhetoric is used intermittently alongside coercive measures,” he said.

Moghaddam further stated that tensions would persist as long as restrictions on Iran’s maritime activities remain in place.

The remarks come after the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that a vessel identified as Iranian had been intercepted and taken into US custody. According to US officials, the ship was allegedly attempting to violate maritime restrictions near the Strait of Hormuz.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said on social media that American forces had targeted and seized an Iranian vessel accused of breaching the blockade.

The latest developments highlight rising tensions in the Gulf region, with concerns growing over maritime security, international law, and the risk of further escalation between the United States and Iran.
