Web Desk – Bannu, Pakistan’s security forces have killed two militants, including a highly wanted commander, during an intelligence-based operation in the northwestern district of Bannu, according to the military’s media wing.
In a statement, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the operation was conducted after receiving credible intelligence about the presence of militants in the area. A fierce exchange of fire took place, resulting in the deaths of both suspects.
The slain individuals were identified as a militant ring leader, Waheedullah alias Mukhtiar, and a suicide bomber. Authorities said the commander was on the most-wanted list and had been involved in multiple terrorist activities.
Security forces recovered a suicide vest, weapons, and ammunition from the site, the statement added.
According to ISPR, the militant leader was responsible for attacks targeting both security personnel and civilians, including acting as a key facilitator in a suicide bombing in Bannu on February 21, 2026, in which Lieutenant Colonel Gul Faraz was killed.
The military said the operation not only neutralized a key figure but also helped prevent a potential major attack. Clearance operations in the area are ongoing to eliminate any remaining threats.
