(Web Desk) – Pakistan has reiterated its firm opposition to the forced displacement of Palestinians, describing such actions as illegal under international law and unacceptable under any circumstances, during discussions at the United Nations in New York.
Addressing the UN, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative, Asim Iftikhar, reaffirmed Islamabad’s longstanding position on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, stressing that any attempts to relocate Palestinian populations, particularly from Gaza and the occupied West Bank, violate international legal frameworks and undermine prospects for peace.
Pakistan joined 85 other member states in condemning Israel’s decision to classify large areas of land in the occupied West Bank as “state property.” The countries expressed concern that the move could escalate tensions on the ground and pose a serious threat to the viability of a negotiated two-state solution.
Speaking during the session, Ambassador Iftikhar stated that the expansion of Jewish settlements in occupied territories represents a violation of the United Nations Charter and established international law. He emphasized that Pakistan rejects unilateral measures that alter the status of disputed land, warning that such actions risk further destabilizing the region.
Pakistan’s envoy also highlighted the importance of renewed diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive and lasting resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He reiterated Islamabad’s support for a two-state solution based on internationally recognized parameters, calling for an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel with secure and recognized borders.
The statement comes amid heightened international scrutiny of developments in Gaza and the West Bank, where ongoing tensions have drawn widespread reactions from governments and global institutions. Diplomatic discussions at the United Nations continue to focus on humanitarian concerns, adherence to international law, and the revival of meaningful negotiations between the parties involved.
Pakistan has consistently voiced support for Palestinian rights at international forums, advocating for dialogue, restraint, and compliance with international legal norms as essential steps toward sustainable peace in the Middle East.
