Munich, Germany — Web Desk: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Force (CDF), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, visited Germany from February 12 to 14, where he participated in high-level meetings on the sidelines of the 62nd Munich Security Conference, according to an official statement.
During the visit, Field Marshal Munir met United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss issues of mutual interest, regional and global security developments, and cooperation in counterterrorism efforts.
The Pakistani military chief also held meetings with senior German officials, including Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt, German Chancellor’s Foreign and Security Policy Adviser Gunther Sautter, and Chief of Defence General Carsten Breuer. The discussions focused on contemporary security challenges, bilateral defence cooperation, and the importance of bilateral and multilateral dialogue to promote global peace and stability.
In addition, Field Marshal Munir met Brazil’s Chief of Joint Staff Admiral Renato Rodrigues de Aguiar Freire, where both sides discussed avenues for expanding military-to-military cooperation. Lebanon’s Armed Forces Commander General Rudolph Haykal also met with the Pakistani military chief to review regional security developments and opportunities to strengthen defence ties.
The Munich Security Conference is a major global forum that brings together world leaders, policymakers, and military officials to discuss international security and geopolitical issues.
