Their opening stand set a new record for the highest partnership by New Zealand openers in T20 World Cup history. The previous record stood at just 68 runs, shared by Lou Vincent and Brendon McCullum.
This partnership also marked New Zealand’s highest partnership for any wicket in T20 World Cup history, surpassing the previous record of 105 runs by Glenn Phillips and Martin Guptill.
