Lahore, Pakistan – Web Desk: Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has predicted that Salman Ali Agha will step down as Pakistan’s T20 captain following the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup.
Speaking on a sports program after Pakistan’s defeat to England, Amir said, “In my view, Salman Ali Agha will not continue as T20 captain after this World Cup.” He added that currently, no clear replacement seems suitable given the present circumstances.
Amir also commented that for many players, this T20 World Cup may be their last opportunity. Former wicket-keeper Rashid Latif raised concerns over Babar Azam’s return to the T20 side, noting that despite previously being dropped for a low strike rate, he was recalled six months later without evident improvement. Latif emphasized that slower scoring can force incoming batsmen into risky shots, affecting team dynamics.
The debate comes as Pakistan’s T20 side navigates a challenging World Cup campaign, with selectors facing scrutiny over captaincy and batting strategies.
