Karachi, Pakistan — Web Desk: A massive fire that erupted in a factory located in the Landhi Export Processing Zone was brought under control after an intense 11-hour firefighting operation, officials confirmed.
Chief Fire Officer Humayun Khan stated that no casualties were reported in the incident. The cooling process has begun and is expected to continue for three to four days. The blaze originated in a plastic manufacturing factory and spread to an adjacent shoe and slipper production unit, causing significant material damage.
The fire was declared a third-degree emergency, prompting a large-scale rescue response. More than 20 firefighting vehicles, including 12 fire tenders from KMC, three snorkels, Pakistan Navy units, Rescue 1122 teams, and EPZ fire services, participated in the operation.
Large quantities of plastic, fiber, leather, and footwear materials were destroyed, while one factory building suffered severe structural damage. Authorities said the cause of the fire will be determined after the cooling phase is completed.
