KP Security Summit: Malakand Model to Strengthen Peace

Date:

Peshawar, Pakistan – Web Desk: In a high-level security meeting in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the provincial government announced that the administrative model successfully implemented in Malakand Division will now serve as a benchmark for other districts in the province. Chief Minister KP, Sohail Afridi, along with Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Corps Commander, and National Security Advisor, participated in the session to review the province’s law and order situation.

The meeting focused on sustaining long-term peace, particularly in tribal districts, and emphasized adopting a collective strategy for development and security. According to official sources, the participants held a consensus-driven discussion on improving law enforcement and governance. The meeting also served as a follow-up to a previous Apex Committee session.

Under the new decision, the Malakand governance model will be gradually implemented in Khyber, Orakzai, and Kurram districts. The initiative aims to enhance coordination between federal and provincial authorities, ensuring comprehensive counter-terrorism measures, strict monitoring of illegal SIM cards, explosive materials, and anti-extortion operations.

Officials highlighted that maintaining security is vital not only for the province but also for the upcoming events, including the Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches scheduled to be hosted in Peshawar this year.

Chief Minister Sohail Afridi reiterated his commitment to prioritizing public welfare over personal or political interests. Speaking at the meeting, Afridi emphasized that he would not compromise on decisions in closed-door sessions or under pressure, stating that he will always work for the benefit of KP residents even if it faces opposition.

Earlier, while addressing Peshawar University, Afridi affirmed that his governance approach focuses on accountability, transparency, and serving the people, not advancing personal political agendas. He pledged to collaborate with all stakeholders when the public interest is at stake.
