Pakistan’s military says security forces killed 10 militants, including a woman, during operations near the Gabd border crossing and in Gwadar city. One civilian was killed, and several vehicles were damaged.
RAWALPINDI, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: Security forces killed 10 militants, including a woman, during operations in and around Gwadar district of Balochistan after attempted attacks near the Gabd Border Crossing and in Gwadar city, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.
The military’s media wing said the incidents occurred on October 22, adding that one civilian was killed and several vehicles were damaged. No security personnel were reported killed during the operations, which the ISPR said had concluded with order restored in the affected areas.
Operations carried out near Gabd crossing and Gwadar city
According to the ISPR statement, security forces launched clearance operations to protect residents and secure the affected locations after the reported attacks.
The military said 10 militants, including one woman, were killed in separate engagements. It described the attackers as members of a group it calls “Fitna al-Hindustan” and alleged that they were backed by India.
These allegations reflect the Pakistani military’s account. India has repeatedly rejected Islamabad’s accusations of sponsoring militant attacks.
The ISPR said the attacks were intended to undermine state authority and disrupt development in Balochistan. It did not identify the civilian killed in the incident in the reporting reviewed for this article.
Civilian killed, vehicles damaged
The military said one civilian lost their life during the attacks, while several vehicles sustained damage.
It added that the clearance operations ended without casualties among security personnel. The statement did not provide further details about the civilian’s identity or the extent of the damage to vehicles.
Earlier reports described operations as ongoing
On October 22, state broadcaster Radio Pakistan reported that security forces had killed three militants after foiling an attempted attack on an unoccupied construction company camp in Gwadar. At that stage, security sources said other suspects had been surrounded and a separate operation was underway near a hotel close to the Gwadar Highway.
The subsequent ISPR statement on October 23 reported a total of 10 militants killed during engagements in and around the district.
Military says counterterrorism campaign will continue
The ISPR said counterterrorism operations under the government’s “Azm-e-Istehkam” framework, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, would continue.
The military also commented on the involvement of a female attacker, alleging that a Baloch woman had been coerced into participating. The available reporting does not independently establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s involvement.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised security forces for the operation and expressed grief over the civilian’s death.
