Ehsan Adil Becomes Second Cricketer to Face Pakistan

Date:

Colombo, Sri Lanka – Web Desk: Ehsan Adil has become the second cricketer in history to play against Pakistan after representing the country in international cricket. The 32-year-old left-arm fast bowler was included in the United States squad for the ICC T20 World Cup, replacing Jasdeep Singh, who withdrew due to a shoulder injury.

Originally from Gojra, Punjab, Ehsan Adil made his international debut for Pakistan in 2013 against South Africa. He appeared in three Test matches, claiming five wickets, and also earned his One Day International (ODI) cap the same year against Scotland, taking four wickets in six matches. Adil was part of Pakistan’s squad for the 2015 Cricket World Cup and played his last match for Pakistan in the quarterfinals against Australia.

Following his international career with Pakistan, Adil moved to the United States, where he has now earned the honor of representing the American cricket team in a T20 World Cup match against his country of birth. His inclusion in the U.S. squad makes him the second player ever to face Pakistan after previously representing the nation.

The first cricketer to achieve this rare feat was former Test player Gul Mohammad, who played two Test matches for India against Pakistan in 1952–53 before relocating to Pakistan and later playing a Test match for Pakistan against Australia.

Ehsan Adil’s story underscores the increasing globalization of cricket, with players moving across countries while continuing to perform at the international level. His unique journey adds an intriguing subplot to Pakistan’s T20 World Cup campaign and highlights the growing influence of associate nations like the United States in international cricket.
