Beijing, China – Web Desk: U.S. President Donald Trump is set to visit China this week for high-level talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping focusing on the Iran conflict, the Strait of Hormuz crisis, trade relations, and other major global issues.
According to the White House, Trump will arrive in Beijing on Wednesday evening, while formal talks and an official reception with Xi Jinping are scheduled for Thursday. The visit is expected to conclude on Friday.
White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly described the visit as highly symbolic, saying it aims to stabilize U.S.-China relations and promote fairness in economic and trade matters.
Reports indicate that Washington plans to increase pressure on Beijing regarding Iran, particularly over Chinese purchases of Iranian oil and concerns about the supply of dual-use goods that could support Tehran’s strategic sectors.
Last week, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent accused China of financially supporting what he described as “the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism” through continued Iranian energy imports.
Regional tensions escalated after Iran restricted maritime movement in the Strait of Hormuz in response to U.S. and Israeli actions, disrupting global energy supply chains and affecting international markets, especially in Asia.
China has repeatedly called for an end to the Iran conflict. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi recently visited Beijing for consultations. However, China continues to reject unilateral U.S. sanctions targeting Iran’s oil sector.
The discussions are also expected to cover Russia, rare earth minerals, trade disputes, and Taiwan. U.S. officials have stated that Washington’s policy on Taiwan remains unchanged.
Several major American business executives, including representatives from Boeing and agricultural firms, are also expected to accompany the U.S. delegation during the visit.
