Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: A departmental inquiry has been launched into alleged financial irregularities worth billions of rupees in the Karachi Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Yellow Line project.
According to officials, former project director of the Yellow Line has been summoned as part of the investigation, while the director of procurement, also named in the case, failed to appear before the inquiry committee.
The inquiry officer recorded statements from two other officials linked to the project as the investigation into alleged misuse of public funds continues.
Authorities said the probe was initiated after reports surfaced of alleged corruption exceeding Rs6 billion in the project. Following the development, the Chief Secretary ordered a formal investigation into the matter.
Several officials, including former project director Zamir Abbasi, procurement director Juman Das, project director Kamal Hakeem, and deputy director Taha Aziz, were directed to appear before investigators.
Sindh Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that all officials have also been instructed to bring complete project records for review during the inquiry.
The investigation is ongoing, and further actions are expected based on findings.
