Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Former foreign secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani has praised the diplomatic efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, describing them as among the most significant he has witnessed during his career.
Speaking on a television program, Jilani said that during the first round of US-Iran negotiations, both sides had reached consensus on a preliminary agreement referred to as the “Islamabad MOU.” However, despite progress on a draft agreement, key challenges remained unresolved.
He noted that the central issue currently stalling further progress is the nuclear question, which continues to be a major sticking point in negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
Jilani emphasized that the ongoing diplomatic engagement led by Pakistan’s leadership is noteworthy and expressed confidence that these efforts would yield positive outcomes.
His remarks come as Pakistan continues to play a facilitating role in efforts to ease tensions and support dialogue between the United States and Iran.
