Web Desk – Islamabad : Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi chaired a high-level meeting at the Islamabad Safe City Headquarters to review progress on Phase II of the Safe City project, officials said.
During the meeting, authorities decided that all ongoing work under Phase II would be completed by May 30. The interior minister directed officials to ensure timely completion of the project.
Naqvi said the initiative aims to transform Islamabad’s Safe City system into a fully integrated “Capital Smart City” model by upgrading the central command and control system. The enhanced system will integrate policing, traffic management, and public services into a unified digital infrastructure.
Officials added that the upgraded system would introduce modern traffic management tools and advanced crime control mechanisms to improve urban safety and efficiency. A new design for the Safe City headquarters was also approved during the meeting.
Inspector General of Islamabad Police Ali Nasir Rizvi briefed the meeting, stating that approximately 75% of Phase II work has already been completed. The project includes the installation of advanced surveillance cameras and monitoring systems to enhance public safety.
Authorities also confirmed that around 152 kilometers of fiber-optic cable has been laid, with the remaining work expected to be completed by May 20, followed by testing.
Senior officials, including Interior Secretary Khurram Agha and Federal Investigation Agency Director General Usman Anwar, attended the session.
