ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Web Desk: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is expected to arrive in Islamabad tonight with a small team for talks with the United States, marking a significant escalation in Pakistan’s role as a diplomatic mediator.
Government sources indicate that a second round of US-Iran peace negotiations is expected to take place in Islamabad following crucial discussions between the Iranian delegation and a Pakistani facilitation team.
A US logistics and security team is already present in Islamabad to support the negotiation process, sources confirmed.
Earlier, Field Marshal Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar held a significant telephone conversation with Iran’s top diplomat Abbas Araghchi. During the call, the three sides discussed the regional situation, ceasefire efforts, and Islamabad’s ongoing diplomatic initiatives.
According to a statement from the Foreign Office spokesperson, Deputy Prime Minister Dar emphasized the importance of continuous and meaningful negotiations to resolve issues for the promotion of lasting peace and stability in the region. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continuing its diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and establish peace in the region.
Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi appreciated Pakistan’s positive and constructive facilitation role, describing Islamabad’s efforts for regional peace as important.
Both leaders agreed to further strengthen mutual contacts and remain in close coordination moving forward.
