Washington, United States – Web Desk: The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has said the Iran war effectively ended following a ceasefire reached on April 7, according to media reports.
Officials stated that hostilities ceased after the early April truce, marking the end of the conflict that had escalated in late February. A senior administration official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said there had been no exchange of fire between U.S. and Iranian forces since the ceasefire took effect.
The comments echo remarks made by U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth during a Senate session on April 30, where he said the ceasefire had effectively halted the war. He also noted that U.S. military engagement had not exceeded the 60-day limit set under the War Powers Resolution of 1973, which would otherwise require formal congressional approval.
According to the administration, the conflict began on February 28 and concluded following a two-week ceasefire period starting April 7. The statement comes amid ongoing debate over the legal and strategic dimensions of U.S. military actions in the region.
