(Web Desk) – The foreign minister of Iran, Abbas Araghchi, has strongly condemned the sinking of the Iranian navy vessel IRIS Dena, accusing United States of committing a serious violation in international waters and warning of consequences.
In a statement on social media platform X, Araghchi claimed the incident occurred nearly 2,000 miles from Iran’s coast in international waters. He said the warship was hosting personnel from the Indian Navy at the time, with approximately 130 sailors on board.
According to Iranian officials, the vessel was targeted without prior warning, an action they described as setting a dangerous precedent in maritime security. Tehran vowed that the United States would “pay a heavy price” for what it called an aggressive and unlawful operation.
U.S. authorities have not yet responded to the allegations.
