Iran Ready to Take Defensive Measures if Nuclear Deal Fails: FM

Date:

Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has reiterated that diplomacy remains the only solution for the ongoing nuclear negotiations, but warned that Tehran is prepared to take necessary defensive measures if no agreement is reached.

In an interview with US media, Araghchi stated that an initial draft of a potential nuclear deal could be ready within two to three days. Once approved, it will be presented to the US Special Envoy for review. He emphasized that neither side has proposed halting nuclear enrichment at this stage, and negotiators are working swiftly toward a resolution.

Araghchi stressed that the nuclear issue has no military solution, but Iran is prepared for all scenarios, including self-defense. He warned that any US military action would complicate the situation and have devastating consequences for the region and global community.

Addressing Washington, Araghchi said previous US measures—wars, sanctions, and snapback attempts—have failed against Iran, and the country responds according to the approach taken toward it. “If you speak to us respectfully, we will respond respectfully. If you speak with force, we will respond in kind,” he said.

The remarks come after US President Donald Trump indicated consideration of limited strikes against Iran, highlighting rising tensions amid ongoing diplomatic efforts.
