Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran’s Joint Military Command has claimed that Iranian forces carried out drone strikes on United States naval vessels following a maritime confrontation in the Gulf region, further escalating already high tensions between the two countries.
In a statement, Iran’s military leadership said the United States had violated a ceasefire arrangement by opening fire on an Iranian commercial ship, which it claimed was traveling from China to Iran at the time of the incident.
The command described the US action as “maritime aggression” and “armed piracy,” warning that Tehran would respond to what it called repeated violations of international norms.
It further alleged that Iranian forces launched drone attacks targeting several US Navy ships in retaliation. These claims have not been independently verified by US authorities.
Earlier, former US President Donald Trump said on social media that American forces intercepted an Iranian vessel allegedly attempting to breach a blockade near the Strait of Hormuz. He stated that the ship was subsequently taken into custody.
The developments come amid heightened military and diplomatic tensions between Washington and Tehran, raising concerns over maritime security, energy supply routes, and the risk of wider regional escalation.
