Jakarta, Indonesia – Web Desk: At least eight people were killed after a helicopter crashed in a remote forested area of Borneo, Indonesia, authorities said.

According to media reports, the Airbus H130 helicopter, operated by a private aviation company, lost contact just minutes after takeoff from Melawi district in West Kalimantan province. The aircraft was en route to palm oil plantation areas in Kubu Raya district when it went down.

Search and rescue teams later located the wreckage in dense जंगल terrain in Sekadau district. Officials from Indonesia’s National Search and Rescue Agency confirmed that the bodies of two crew members and six passengers were recovered from the crash site.

Authorities said one of the victims was a Malaysian national. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The incident highlights ongoing aviation safety concerns in remote regions of Indonesia, where challenging terrain and weather conditions often complicate air travel operations.
