Gul Plaza Fire: Shopkeepers Reveal Fire Brigade Arrived Late

Date:

Karachi: A massive blaze at Gul Plaza on M.A. Jinnah Road intensified and was declared a third-degree fire. The incident claimed three lives and left more than 20 injured, including eight who suffered burn injuries. Several victims remain in critical condition.

Following the tragedy, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori visited the site and met with affected traders. Shopkeepers complained that the fire brigade arrived late and that vehicles lacked water. The Governor responded that saving lives was the immediate priority, and other concerns would be addressed later.

He added that there was no confirmed evidence of people trapped inside, though traders claimed that nearly 100 individuals were stuck in the building.

Meanwhile, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and directed all municipal departments to remain on high alert. Heavy machinery from Karachi Metropolitan Corporation was also dispatched under the supervision of the Municipal Commissioner to assist rescue operations.
