France Deploys Aircraft Carrier Near Strait of Hormuz

Date:

Paris, France – Web Desk: France has deployed its nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle towards the vicinity of the Strait of Hormuz as part of a potential defensive mission, according to the French Ministry of Defence.

Officials said the warship is currently moving south of the Suez Canal through the Red Sea and could be positioned near the strategic Strait of Hormuz if required.

Reports indicate that France and the United Kingdom are preparing a multinational mission aimed at ensuring the safe passage of commercial shipping in the region. French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer are reportedly overseeing the initiative.

French authorities stressed that the mission is strictly defensive in nature and would only be activated depending on developments in ongoing regional tensions.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a critical global energy chokepoint, with a significant portion of the world’s oil shipments passing through it. Rising instability in the area has already triggered concerns in global energy markets.

Analysts say the deployment reflects growing geopolitical and military tensions in the region, as major powers seek to secure vital maritime trade routes amid escalating security risks.
