David Warner Calls Drink-Driving a Reckless Mistake

Date:

Sydney, Australia – Web Desk: Former Australian cricketer David Warner has described his decision to drive under the influence as “irresponsible and foolish” following a roadside alcohol test incident in Sydney on Easter Day.

According to court details, Warner’s legal representative told media outside court that the former batsman did not appear at the hearing but may enter a guilty plea at a later stage.

The incident reportedly occurred while Warner was on a break during his involvement with the Pakistan Super League franchise Karachi Kings.

Police stated that Warner was stopped during a roadside breath test in Sydney, which returned a positive result. He was subsequently taken to a police station, where his blood alcohol level was found to be twice the legal limit.

The 39-year-old has been charged with mid-range drink-driving offences. His lawyer said Warner had consumed three glasses of alcohol with friends before choosing to drive, despite having access to ride-hailing services.

The case has raised questions regarding his leadership role with Sydney Thunder, while authorities in New South Wales reiterated their strong stance on road safety and responsible driving.

Warner is scheduled to appear in court again on 24 June as proceedings continue.
