Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: Firefighters in Karachi successfully controlled a major fire at a private superstore located on Zamzama Street in Clifton, officials said. A suspect linked to the incident has been taken into custody.
According to Karachi Fire Brigade, six fire engines were deployed to contain the blaze, which initially broke out in the basement early Sunday morning. Thick smoke and darkness hampered rescue operations, complicating access to the affected areas.
Rescue teams used cutters to open doors and reach the basement, where the fire had spread toward the ground floor. Authorities confirmed that no staff were present inside the building at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Officials said the final determination would be announced after completing the inquiry.
Chief Fire Officer Humayun Khan stated that the fire alert was received at 6 a.m., prompting an immediate dispatch from the central station. Firefighters initially extinguished the basement blaze before containing smaller flare-ups on the ground floor.
Emergency teams confirmed that the situation is now under control, and the area has been secured for further investigation.
