New York, United States – Web Desk: FIFA President Gianni Infantino has sparked attention after stating that fans purchasing premium FIFA World Cup final tickets may receive complimentary food and drinks, including a hot dog and soft drink.
His remarks came amid growing debate over soaring ticket prices for the upcoming World Cup final scheduled in the United States. Infantino said he would personally ensure that fans buying tickets worth around $2 million receive a “special matchday experience,” including refreshments.
He clarified that FIFA is not directly selling tickets at such extreme prices, but secondary resale markets in the United States have driven prices significantly higher, with some listings reportedly reaching up to $2.3 million per ticket.
According to reports, ticket resale regulations in the US allow prices to fluctuate in secondary markets, contributing to extreme price inflation for high-demand matches such as the World Cup final in New Jersey.
Infantino added that FIFA had kept a portion of tickets relatively affordable, noting that around 25 percent of group-stage tickets are priced below $300, comparable to major US college sporting events.
The comments have intensified discussions around affordability and accessibility of global sporting events as demand for World Cup final tickets continues to surge.
