Cairo, Egypt – Web Desk: Egypt’s national football team has been instructed by FIFA to make an emergency change to its kit ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following the implementation of stricter tournament uniform regulations.
Under FIFA’s updated guidelines, the Egyptian team must remove the seven stars displayed on its jerseys, which symbolize the country’s record seven Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) titles.
The stars have long been a source of national pride and a visible representation of Egypt’s success in African football. However, FIFA has ruled that such symbols are not permitted on World Cup kits under its revised regulations.
According to the new rules, teams participating in the FIFA World Cup may only display insignia related to FIFA World Cup titles on their jerseys. Symbols representing victories in continental competitions, including AFCON, are not allowed during the tournament.
The decision means Egypt will enter the World Cup without the seven stars that have become a defining feature of its national team kit. The move has sparked discussion among football fans, many of whom view the stars as an important part of Egypt’s football identity and heritage.
Egypt is set to compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and officials are expected to comply with FIFA’s regulations before the team’s opening match.
