(Web Desk) – France has announced plans to increase the size of its nuclear arsenal, with President Emmanuel Macron citing uncertainty surrounding American security guarantees for European allies.
Speaking on the evolving global security environment, Macron said that shifting geopolitical realities and doubts over long-term US commitments to Europe have prompted France to reassess its strategic posture. He stated that France would strengthen its nuclear deterrent in light of these uncertainties.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss the situation in the Middle East. According to diplomatic sources, both sides stressed the need for efforts to stabilise the region amid escalating tensions.
Earlier, the Kremlin confirmed ongoing contacts with Iranian leadership and accused the United States and Israel of attempting to undermine improving relations between Iran and its Arab neighbours.
In a related development, Germany announced it would not participate in any military action against Iran. Germany’s foreign minister stated that Berlin has no intention of becoming involved in the conflict.
Additionally, NATO clarified that the alliance would not take part in military operations related to the Iran crisis.
The announcements reflect growing diplomatic activity and strategic recalibration among major global powers as tensions in the Middle East continue to rise.
