Peshawar, Pakistan – Web Desk: Earthquake tremors were felt across several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and parts of Punjab on Friday evening, triggering panic among residents, authorities said.
According to Pakistan’s National Seismic Monitoring Centre in Islamabad, the earthquake measured 5.6 magnitude on the Richter scale, with a depth of 73 kilometers. The epicenter was located in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan.
Tremors were reported in Peshawar, Dir, Malakand, Bajaur, Mardan, Swabi, and surrounding areas, while strong shocks were also felt in the Soon Valley and nearby districts. In Punjab, tremors were recorded in Chakwal, Talagang, Lawa, Kallar Kahar, Choa Saidan Shah, and Dhudial, officials said.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said no casualties or property damage had been reported so far, but district administrations have been asked to submit damage assessments. Emergency operation centers across Punjab and KP remain on high alert as authorities inspect buildings for potential structural risks.
