Kahramanmaraş, Turkey – Web Desk: A school shooting in Turkey’s southern Kahramanmaraş province has left at least one teacher and three students dead, with around 20 others injured, officials said, marking the second such incident in two days.
According to international media reports, the attack took place at a middle school where a student opened indiscriminate fire inside classrooms. Provincial Governor Mükerrem Ünlüer confirmed that the victims include one teacher and three students, with identities yet to be released.
Authorities said four of the injured are in critical condition, raising fears that the death toll could rise.
Police confirmed the attacker was a student at the same school. He allegedly concealed his father’s pistol in his bag before entering the premises and opening fire in two classrooms. After carrying out the attack, the suspect died by suicide.
The incident follows another school shooting a day earlier in Şanlıurfa, where a former student injured at least 16 people before taking his own life.
School shootings are rare in Turkey, but the back-to-back incidents have sparked widespread concern over safety in educational institutions and access to firearms.
Investigations are ongoing.
