Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: A special court in Islamabad has extended the interim bail of Dr Fazeela Abbasi, sister of actor Hamza Ali Abbasi, in a money laundering case until April 20, while also restraining authorities from arresting her during this period.
The hearing was conducted by Special Judge Central Humayun Dilawar. During proceedings, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) submitted its challan in the case.
According to officials, a joint bank account held by Dr Fazeela Abbasi and Hamza Ali Abbasi remains frozen as part of the investigation. The defense has filed a request to restore access to the account.
During the hearing, prosecutor informed the court that a written response had been submitted by the accused, though she had not appeared in person on certain occasions. However, Dr Abbasi stated she had attended multiple hearings.
Her counsel, Naeem Bukhari, advised her to refrain from directly addressing the court and argued that there had been no misuse of bail, a position he said was supported by the high court.
Judge Dilawar noted that the interim bail had been in effect for three months and emphasized the need for the accused to cooperate with the investigation. The court directed Dr Abbasi to join the inquiry immediately and adjourned proceedings until April 20.
