Direct Pakistan–Bangladesh flights resume as Biman touches down in Karachi
Karachi, Pakistan | Web Desk: After a gap of 14 years, direct air connectivity between Pakistan and Bangladesh has been restored as Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the country’s national carrier, successfully landed its first flight from Dhaka to Karachi.
The historic arrival at Karachi Airport was marked with special arrangements, including a water salute, to welcome the inaugural flight. Airport authorities also organized a special ceremony to commemorate the resumption of direct flights.
The event was attended by the Governor of Sindh, the Bangladeshi High Commissioner, and senior airport officials, highlighting the importance of renewed aviation ties between the two countries.
Emotional scenes were witnessed at the airport as members of the Bangladeshi community in Pakistan expressed happiness over the development. They said the direct route will allow them to travel to Bangladesh more affordably and conveniently to meet their loved ones.
The Dhaka–Karachi flight duration is approximately three hours. Previously, the suspension of direct flights forced passengers to travel via Dubai, making the journey longer and more expensive. The restoration of direct flights is expected to boost people-to-people contact, tourism, and bilateral relations.
