Shehbaz Sharif cuts power tariff by Rs4.04 per unit to boost industry

Islamabad, Pakistan | Web Desk: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a major relief package for the industrial sector by reducing electricity prices for industries by Rs4.04 per unit, aiming to accelerate industrial growth, exports, and economic stability in Pakistan.

Addressing a ceremony held in honour of leading exporters and business leaders in Islamabad, the prime minister said the move is designed to provide immediate relief to industries and enhance production capacity. He emphasized that no economy can achieve stability without strong industrial development.

PM Shehbaz clarified that the government’s role is not to run businesses but to create a business-friendly environment. He said the government is taking concrete steps to facilitate investors, manufacturers, and exporters to shift the economy toward sustainable growth.

He stressed that Pakistan must now move decisively towards economic growth, adding that the business community’s input will be given priority in policymaking. According to the prime minister, traders and industrialists are the backbone of the national economy, and their experience will help shape effective economic policies.

The prime minister also highlighted the importance of consultation with the business community to ensure that economic decisions reflect ground realities. He said mutual trust and continuous engagement are key to steering the economy in the right direction.

Referring to national harmony, PM Shehbaz said that coordination between political and military leadership has improved, with all institutions working on the same page. He noted that this unity is already showing positive effects on the economy and business climate.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment, he said practical measures will continue to address industrial challenges, adding that the power tariff reduction is a crucial step toward strengthening industries and reviving Pakistan’s economy.
