Quetta, Pakistan – Web Desk: Balochistan security forces successfully foiled a major terrorist plot with the arrest of a female suicide bomber, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti announced on Tuesday.
Addressing a press briefing alongside provincial Home Minister Mir Zia Langove and senior officials, CM Bugti praised the timely action of intelligence and law enforcement agencies, calling it a significant step toward peace and stability in the province.
The suspect, identified as Laiba, 19, from Khuzdar district, disclosed she had been radicalized and recruited by a militant commander named Ibrahim. She admitted being tasked with recruiting and training other women for suicide missions.
Bugti highlighted that Afghanistan continues to serve as a safe haven for militants and claimed that terrorist groups exploit women under ethnic or political pretexts. He emphasized that Balochistan’s population rejects terrorism and actively cooperates with authorities by providing intelligence.
The operation was intelligence-driven, revealing links with banned outfits, including the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), as well as other militant networks and facilitators. Bugti stated that enhanced intelligence-sharing mechanisms have prevented several attacks in recent months, saving lives and property.
The chief minister also called for community engagement and social awareness to counter radicalization, particularly among youth and women. He stressed improving education and employment opportunities to reduce susceptibility to extremist propaganda.
Officials assured that law enforcement measures will be strengthened to safeguard citizens and maintain long-term peace in Balochistan.
