RAHIM YAR KHAN: The Crime Control Department (CCD) reported on Saturday that Khawaja Tareef Gulshan, alias Teefi Butt — the prime suspect in the high-profile murder case of Ameer Balaj — was killed by gunfire from his own accomplices during an encounter in the Kot Sabzal area of Rahim Yar Khan.
According to sources, Teefi Butt was in police custody and was being transported to Lahore when armed associates ambushed the police convoy and managed to free him. In response, law enforcement launched an immediate pursuit, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire between the police and the fleeing suspects.
During the crossfire, Teefi Butt was fatally shot by his own companions. Police swiftly cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation to apprehend the remaining suspects.
Teefi Butt’s body was transferred to the morgue for a post-mortem examination.
A police constable, Noor Hassan, sustained injuries during the shootout and was taken to a hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities have intensified efforts to track down and arrest the remaining suspects through a series of targeted raids and operations.
